How to Remain Powerful and Authentic In Your Everyday Conversations

Communication was never a strong suit for me while growing up. I was extremely insecure within myself so naturally, the objective of my communication was to deter the focus from this painfully apparent reality. There were even subtleties buried within my speech patterns that gave this away, such as the tendency to drop the word “so” at the end of every explanation to mask my discomfort with silence.

Much of my conversations were centered around me getting what I wanted, as opposed to collaborating with the other person to cause a breakthrough in our relationship or topic of discussion. Much to my chagrin, I was forced to acknowledge the futility of being disingenuous.

Below are 4 things to pay attention to in order to remain authentic and powerful in your everyday conversations:

1. The voice in our head

We all have multiple voices. Apart from the obvious linguistic abilities, we also experience a running commentary inside of our minds. This voice is very subjective, offering all kinds of alternative views and opinions on what’s happening. We often let this voice dictate how we interpret what the other person says and means. Experiences of the past are brought to the forefront along with world-views, generalizations and conclusion suggestions.

By tuning out this mental chatter, we stay in the moment. More importantly, we’re less inclined to cut off the flow of the other person’s speech and give them ample space to convey their intended message, causing their effectiveness with our listening. The ratio of ears to mouth is no accident. Giving someone the space and time necessary to access their intersection of neurology and linguistics is one of the greatest recurring gifts you can give.

“One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what another has to say.” – Bryant H. McGill

2. The trap of manipulation

Maintaining authenticity while attempting to move them from one thought to another simultaneously is a tall order. One could argue that it’s not possible, as there is no honor in attempting to control something you cannot control. Being authentic is all about showcasing the truth, and we don’t get to decide who identifies with it. Influence is a matter of choice, one that isn’t ours to make. Influence occurs when you take a stand for something with no agenda for who may join you in your efforts.

Removing our obsession with outcome keeps us grounded and powerful in our stand. We realize that all we have is the truth of our word. Should people come along and board our train, that’s wonderful. If they don’t, it doesn’t have to diminish our purpose. It can simply allow us to take responsibility to grow in our communication until we achieve the impact we desire.

3. The impact of our word

There’s no accountability level quite like that of our word. What we say has a cyclical effect on the thoughts that show up from our unconscious mind and vice versa. If we’re not careful, our word can lose weight like rapid fire.

If we’re up to something big in life, it’s not likely that we’re always going to keep our word. As imperfect and flawed human beings, the only way to keep your word 100% of the time is to play small. However, we can use this very same word to restore itself whenever our word isn’t in alignment with what happened.

By communicating our original agreement, the impact of what failing to keep our word resulted in, and what we’re going to install moving forward to minimize it from happening again, we are more integrous. This isn’t a fun conversation, but it’s a far more productive one with a much higher success rate than simply making excuses.

“Our words reveal our thoughts; manners mirror our self esteem; our actions reflect our character; our habits predict the future.” – William Ward

4. The propensity to attach

Many times in communication we find ourselves stuck. Whatever the occurrence that took place, it’s left us feeling a loss of power or expression as a result. This often shows up in cases where someone did not fulfill the expectations of another.

While it may be temporarily gratifying to hold the upper hand in a relationship, it robs us of our fulfillment. Far too often, we choose to remain hung up on our view of how things should be or should’ve gone instead of simply being present with the person we’re with. This is easier said than done, but it’s simply a matter of choice.

Communication doesn’t always have to be about right versus wrong. We can choose to communicate from a space of empowerment or disempowerment. We always have a choice. True communication is about relatedness, not selfishness. It’s about vulnerability, not immunity. Stepping outside of yourself for a moment to stand for another or something greater than yourself is an act of nobility you can perform every time you interact with someone.

What could be possible for you in the relationships in your life if you adopted these strategies? Let us know in the comments below!

3 Things That Are Holding You Back From The Life You’ve Always Wanted.

We all have this fairy-tale life we want. We scroll our newsfeed daily and tell ourselves “One day that will be me.”

One day never happens. The fairy-tale often becomes a daily nightmare that you’d rather forget and put to the back of your mind through eating, Netflix, chilling with your peeps and drinking alcohol.

The realization I had after learning these three things were holding me back was profound. Overcoming these three things will help clear your mind, create space and let you do the stuff you love.

These three things are nothing new. Mastery of these three things that are holding you back, though, will help you get the results that you’ve never experienced before.

I avoid these three things like it’s part of the bible of my religion. I’m also non-negotiable on all three because they have been the pinnacle of my online success.

You can stop these things from holding you back right now!

1. Information overload.

In our day-to-day lives, we have information coming at us from all directions. People around us, our day jobs, the Internet, our phone and even the billboard at the bus stop are all trying to give us more information.

All of this information enters our brain and becomes a systemic overload for our mind that is already overwhelmed. To have the life you’ve always wanted, you need to put a stop to most of the information that is coming at you.

Try these tips for overcoming information overload:

–    Avoid marketing emails

–    Throw away paper once it’s served its purpose

–    Delete emails that are not relevant

–    Reduce the need to “network” for the sake of networking thus resulting in fewer contacts

We now have access to more information than ever and it’s not a good thing. To live the life we want and do the things we love, we have to leave room for them.

It’s time to decompress from all the information.

2. Overthinking.

Too much information is part of the reason we also overthink. Thinking uses up our precious energy. Not bringing thoughts, ideas and decisions to a conclusion causes us to overthink. ‘

“The space between yes and no is overthinking. Most people live their entire lives in this space”

Getting the life you want means executing and executing is the close second cousin of making decisions.

The other main cause of overthinking is perfection.

We overthink because we’re waiting for the right time or trying to achieve the best possible result. You’ll never predict what the result is going to be so stop hanging out for perfection to join the party.

I now force myself out of overthinking when I’m faced with a decision and have cut off from all other possibilities. That doesn’t mean I make quick decisions that end up being stupid: it means that I’m consciously aware of overthinking and the failure caused by it.

Every decision needs a countdown timer otherwise it will turn into overthinking.

Whatever you do, you must avoid overthinking so you have the brain power to achieve your goals and get the life you want.

3. Making too many decisions

Allowing decisions to drag out is not the only disaster we face. Trying to make too many decisions is also a big problem. To create space in your life, you need to reduce the number of decisions you have to make.

Reducing the volume of decisions can be done through choosing to live a simpler life and embracing habits. Habits are decisions that are made once and then just occur on auto-pilot with a set frequency in mind. For example, I go to the gym on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The decision of when to go to the gym has been removed from my schedule because it’s a habit. Simplifying your life is even easier. Some decisions we regularly make that hold us back are:

–    Deciding what to eat

–    Deciding what to wear

–    Deciding what to do in your spare time

–    Deciding what to do for fun

–    Deciding how to look after yourself

Each of these decisions looks tiny. What you’re missing is that each one is not tiny at all. When added up, the energy, time and effort you’re wasting on decisions like these are stopping you from using those resources on getting the life you want.

Becoming a successful blogger, entrepreneur, YouTuber, sportsperson, salesperson etc requires all the decision-making ability you have. Let’s use business as an example.

Running a business requires lots of decisions every day. If you’re using your decision-making power to decide whether to wear the blue shirt or the red shirt, then you’ll have less inner strength to make the right business decisions.

In the end, unless you’re a fashion blogger, the color of shirt you wear doesn’t matter much. What matters is that your business succeeds and you feel fulfilled.

Divert your decision-making energy into your passion and not into useless sh*t that will never make you successful.

Motivational Advice You Never Hear From Elon Musk

Elon Musk is the hottest entrepreneur on the planet right now. From launching an electric car into space, selling flamethrowers on Twitter, and tunneling holes throughout the country, his unconventional ventures are inspiring millions.

It should come as no surprise that his motivational advice is unconventional, as well. Motivational content can become cliche and overused. Every now and then, you need to hear an opposing idea to challenge your way of thinking.

Here are 3 things from Elon Musk you never hear from motivational blogs that will shake you up and make you reconsider your approach:

Quote #1: “If you need inspiring words, don’t do it.”

Entrepreneurs don’t read motivational blog posts all day. They have real life problems that they need to find real life solutions to. If they have a hiring need, they contact recruitment agencies, compare costs for different vendors, implement solutions, test results, and learn from their experiences. Inspiring words are a shot of espresso to boost their performance, not the food pyramid that nourishes their body to keep going throughout the day.

A motivational quote or video might inspire them for a moment, but they certainly are not spending hours pouring through the self-help section at Barnes and Nobles. If that is you, reconsider whether you are addicted to being motivated or you are addicted to whatever it is you want to do. If you’re an aspiring writer, are you spending more time reading how to write, or are you spending more time actually writing? Audit your behavior and be honest with yourself.

If you are relying on external motivation to keep you going on a project, then once that external motivation is gone, you slow down. You must find something deeper within yourself to keep pushing through the hard times. Doubt is inevitable but failure is necessary.

Quote #2: “If something is important enough, even if the odds are against you, you should still do it.”

People tell you to play it safe, find a mentor, research your market, make sure there is demand. All of this is conventional wisdom. It’s not bad advice, but it’s what everyone is told and it’s what everyone is doing. If Elon Musk listened to this advice he would not be Elon Musk.

Elon Musk revolutionized two industries that people never would have thought to enter. Tesla became the first American car company to go public since Ford Motor Company in 1956. When starting SpaceX, one of his friends collected several clips of rockets blowing up and made him watch a video. Elon proves if you want to make it big, you have to take a big risk.

Most importantly, if you want to succeed, you have to do something you are passionate about. Elon Musk could have made it rich in any other industry doing something far less complicated. Instead, he chose to pursue his passion for making the world a better place by providing alternative energy transportation and creating a new movement of space travel to save humanity.

He gave himself a 10% chance of success rate with both companies when he started. He chose to start them anyway. If you have nothing to risk, you have nothing to gain. The reward is proportional to the risk. If something is important to you, you will pursue it in spite of any amount of risk you might face.

Quote #3: “You should take the approach that you’re wrong. Your goal is to be less wrong.”

Most people avoid criticism. Criticism shows us we might be something wrong. We were raised to avoid being wrong but Elon Musk actively seeks it. Criticism shows you how you can improve and learn.

You learn nothing when someone tells you what you’re doing right. It might feel good, but like it is said in the movie Whiplash, “There are no two words in the English language more harmful than ‘good job’.” Feeling good breeds contentment and leads you to a place of complacency.

Of course, most of us are not Elon Musk and do not operate at his level of intensity. You might decide relentless improvement is not something you value or want in your life. Nothing is wrong with being content and happy with where you are in life. A continual desire for improvement does not mean you need to be discontent with everything. You can choose how far you want to go on your journey of self-improvement and success.

In a world where companies try to pretend like everything is going right, Elon Musk takes the opposite approach. He pretends like everything is going wrong, and he wants to make things less wrong. His approach opens the door for failure and welcomes the opportunity for improvement. Are you allowing yourself to fail? Are you acknowledging your flaws?

We all want to be like Elon Musk. Not all of us want to work 100+ hours a week. There is a middle ground somewhere where we can all learn from. Find your ‘why’ and let that inspire you. Don’t rely on motivational words to keep you going, use it as a supplement, not a meal. Lastly, when everyone is asking themself what is going well, ask yourself what is going wrong.

What do you think of Elon Musk? Comment below!

How The Super Successful Think: Any One Of These Ideas Can Transform Your Entire Life

The super successful think differently and act differently. Like anything, these results can be mimicked in your own life.

There is a list of ideas that all the super successful have in common and it’s what makes them think the way they do.

I’ve spent the last twelve months compiling the ideas that can transform your entire life which I’ve learned by studying how the super successful think.

Any one of these ideas could be the single catalyst for you transforming your entire life.

Nerves don’t stop even when you’re super successful.

“The world’s most accomplished athletes still get nerves before big games. Bill Russell, one of the greatest players in NBA history (winner of 11 championships in 13 years) often vomited before big games due to nerves and anxiety” – Anthony Moore

Even your idols are scared out of their mind when they have to perform at an extremely high level.

The goal is not to avoid uncomfortable situations or be upset with the nervousness; the goal is to use nerves to propel you forward into the unknown, thus creating the results you never thought were possible.

Everything is temporary so just notice it.

“How do you get out of this misery? By understanding that pain, sadness, and suffering are a natural part of life. It is also temporary and ever-changing, as is joy, happiness, and pleasure.

If you stop fighting things you don’t like and trying desperately to hold onto things you do like, life can become more peaceful. Everything is temporary, so just notice it.

Observe it, without any sort of craving or aversion. Everything will ultimately shift, change, or go away, and that’s okay, because something new will take its place” – Ivy Kwong

Right now, may be a difficult time for you. Maybe you’re going through relationship issues, sickness, lack of money or you feel uninspired. Even the super successful experience these challenging moments. The key is to remember that everything is temporary.

These low moments are seasons in your life and like all seasons of weather, they will pass.

Destroy fear by having the guts.

“You just have to outrun everyone who doesn’t have the guts to publish their work” – Jon Westenberg

Anything worth doing requires execution. Trying to overthink your life’s work and whether it will be appreciated is ridiculous.

The reason bloggers like Tim Ferriss have crushed it is because they choose to hit publish. Your work is never finished and aiming for perfection will never allow you to gain feedback.

Success is directly related to the feedback you get and the improvements you make to your life’s work. Transforming your life requires you to get results so you’ll have the energy and motivation to keep going on the tough days when you feel like giving up.

It takes guts to embrace your fear and put your work out there. If you push through this barrier, you’ll get the results of the super successful who many believe have got lucky. Luck has nothing to do with it.

Say yes even when you don’t know how to do something.

“Very rarely do you walk into a situation knowing all the answers, and this ambiguity used to keep me from saying yes to a lot of opportunities. Unless I knew exactly how I was going to do something, I would avoid it” – Nicolas Cole

That’s how I’m writing this very article because I said yes to my friend Joel Brown, to the opportunity to blog on his website. I knew literally nothing and said yes anyway.

As you experiment with different ideas and activities, you’ll quickly learn what you do and don’t like. Then, it’s just a matter of doing more of what you’re passionate about and the results will come from there.

You’ll never quite be able to predict what ends up becoming your life’s work. Saying yes and not having all the answers is how you find the path towards success.

Your purpose always starts with passion.

“Divorce yourself from the results at first. Write because you love it” – Tom Kuelgar

Finding your purpose so you can be super successful requires an element of passion.

That comes from practicing habits because you love them instead of actually aiming for success which is invisible without passion.

Unrelated tasks form part of the process of any successful endeavor.

“And sometimes ‘writing” doesn’t even look like writing - because sometimes writing is really thinking, which looks a lot like ‘zoning out” or doing “nothing” and only makes it harder” – Kris Gage

Tim Ferriss spends time procrastinating and traveling a lot. He puts these two activities down to how he’s able to come up with ideas for new books and ask powerful questions on his podcast. Travel is where he disconnects from the real-world so he can come up with what’s going to be next.

Tim’s travel and procrastination are part of his personal formula for success.

If he just wrote his chart-topping, best-selling books and never traveled or sat in procrastination for hours, we’d never have heard of his name and thought of him as super successful.

Developing yourself is how you win.

“Formal education makes a living, but self-education makes a fortune” – Jim Rohn

There’s a reason the self-development industry has taken off: it works and the super successful know it. Everything starts with you and unless you develop and grow, you’ll never adopt the habits, mindset or skills needed to master any pursuit.

Making a living sucks and it limits your ability to contribute to a cause that is greater than yourself. Working on yourself so you can make a fortune and give away money to things you care about like J.K. Rowling did is how you leave a legacy.

Legacy gives you a meaning for your life and it will also transform your entire perspective.

Reflect on what you’ve learned immediately.

“When you read, to maximize what you learn: immediately after reading a book write down ‘ten things I learned.’ Else, you won’t remember more than 1 or 2 things at best from the book” – James Altucher

That’s why I blog and share content on social media. It allows me to take the lessons from everything I learn day-to-day and share it with others, while simultaneously making sure I remember and practice what I’ve learned.

As people engage and comment on what I share, the lessons are further ingrained in my own head and I’m forced to defend these newfound views in the form of replies to negative comments.

Don’t rely on your brain to remember anything. It will get distracted and you’ll forget the lessons that you paid a high price to get. Repetition is the mother of skill and it will increase your retention rate.

If you want success, there will be failure.

“Success becomes a catalyst for failure” – Greg McKeown

People who think failure is bad never go on to do a hell of a lot. If you want to join the super successful and think like they do, you need to realize that all of your successes will also increase your future rate of failure.

Failure and success go hand-in-hand like a beautiful marriage. Put the ring on your finger, sign the marriage papers and join the wedding party of Mr. Failure and Mrs. Success.

The only time you actually have to live is in the present.

“This is a way out of suffering. This is how you live. Not in the past, not in the future, but now, in the present. The only time that you actually have to live” – Ivy Kwong

We all do a hell of a lot of thinking (including the super successful). This thinking can be in either the past, the future or the present. The choice is yours. The present is what you can control and if you never live in that space, then you’ll never get to truly live.

Transformation happens when you quit living in the past and the future. Success lies in the present.

Overworking is the opposite of success.

“For best results: Spend 20% of your energy on your work and 80% of your energy on recovery and self-improvement” – Benjamin P Hardy

Doing your life’s work and leaving a legacy requires hard, strenuous labor. It requires a lot of time to recover from the energy it takes to do the impossible and smash your goals.

Recovery in the form of procrastination, social activities, reading and meditation is how you regain the mental capacity to keep working.

The lie of hustling until you die is stupid. Your growth lies in the recovery.

Value pain.

“Successful people value the process and the work itself over the outcome, the party, the accolades, and the money. In some way, they value the pain” – Jane Hwangbo

Pain is one of the hardest things to manage and it’s what you should value.

Putting up with the pain so you can get the results many dream of instead of drinking alcohol, watching Netflix and arguing about events that are outside of your control is what the super successful value.

It’s as if the struggle is more important than the positive feelings you get when you achieve your goals. Sounds weird at first but it’s true.

The antidote to low moments.

“When we give gratitude to everything in our lives specifically and exactly for the way they are regardless of whether we wish it to be different, something magical happens. It is especially a challenge when we practice this during trying times when it feels as though we are failing at life” – Sheryl Tai

Handling those situations that feel like a tornado has just wiped out your home and family, is tough. Many of us have no idea what to do. The antidote to these times is gratitude.

Gratitude will bring you back to what you can control and rebalance your thoughts in the direction of positivity. From a positive mental state, you can heal from being knocked flat on your face and get back up again to face the next storm.

Think of being grateful from now on as a reset button.

The truth wins every single time. Period.

“Never, ever lie about anything to anyone. Counterintuitive, but this seems to be a huge social hack and people like you a lot more if you always tell everyone the truth, no matter how embarrassing or hurtful” – Serge Faguet

The rarest of traits and something that epitomizes real success is the truth. The Super Successful don’t just have the life we all dream of, they have the following: a quality network, resources to give back, our respect, people’s attention and passion to do, and to become more.

None of this so-called ‘Holy Grail’ can come into your life unless you commit to telling the truth. The truth feels good and it will separate you from everyone else who wants to talk a good game, bend the truth and even straight out lie to your face.

The truth is always the right decision even when it doesn’t look like it on face-value. The truth breeds authenticity and authenticity is sexy.

There’s no need to focus on success.

Happiness must happen, and the same holds for success: you have to let it happen by not caring about it. I want you to listen to what your conscience commands you to do and go on to carry it out to the best of your knowledge. Then you will live to see that in the long run - in the long run, I say! - success will follow you precisely because you had forgotten to think of it” – John Gorman

Focus on how you think and the character traits that will lead you to success. Doing that is how you become super successful in the first place.

Choose a purpose bigger than yourself.

“Don’t aim at success - the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side-effect of one’s dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one’s surrender to a person other than oneself” – Victor Frankl

Focusing on success often leads to a selfish pursuit of falling in love with yourself. The truth is that success comes from not focusing on yourself or the word “success.”

Success comes from what you can unselfishly do to help all of us reach our own ideals of success through our passions and our purpose. Bet you didn’t expect that to be the secret that the super successful all know and embrace now did you?

5 Reasons Why Not Meditating Is Hindering Your Success

The biggest problem with meditation is that you can have the best intentions, but it just doesn’t get done. Most people’s minds are going at a hectic pace, and they honestly don’t believe meditation will work for them. Another problem is that after meditating for a few weeks, it might not seem like it’s made any difference at all and so you quit. Meditation works. The fact that you’re not meditating is stealing success that could be flowing into your life.

Here are five reasons why not having a meditation practice is holding you back from more successes:

1. You’re Spending Too Much Time Getting Caught Up In Your Feelings and Emotions

Meditation helps emotions move through you rather than becoming trapped. Many people don’t know how to deal with their feelings effectively, and as a result, their emotions often control them. Negative emotions can seem to generate even more negativity until the effect is like a spiral heading toward depression. The practice of meditation helps you notice and identify your emotions, accept them, and then choose how you want to deal with them.

“Meditation is a way for nourishing and blossoming the divine within you.” – Amit Ray

2. You’re Not As Focused As You’d Like To Be

People who don’t meditate are less focused and less centered than those who do. Meditation increases your ability to hone in specifically on one task and create the best possible outcome. If you need to multitask (and we all do at times), meditation vastly improves your ability to perform more than one task at a time.

Do you ever deliver presentations or speeches? Meditators are much better at thinking on their feet and in front of groups. People who meditate develop a demeanor which helps them stay calm at any given time.

3. You Feel Stressed Out Too Much Of The Time

Reports state that people think as many as eighty thousand thoughts a day. Many of these thoughts are the same, repeated hundreds of times an hour. Meditation offers your brain a much-needed rest from the hectic pace of processing this massive mix-up of thoughts. Stress itself is not necessarily a bad thing.

We all experience stress at times, but the important aspect of stress is how we deal with it. Meditation helps us maintain a sense of calmness so that a situation which would have been an eight on your personal stress meter moves down to a 2 or no stress.

4. Your Breathing is Consistently Shallow

Meditation places attention on the breath resulting in deeper, fuller breathing. Focusing on the breath during meditation helps you become more centered and grounded. A person who is more centered, experiences a sense of contentment, a feeling of being in control and a level of confidence that tells them that everything is going to be fine. Increasing the amount of deep breathing you do is one of the most effective ways to improve overall body health.

5. You Are Frequently Fighting Colds, Flu, and Rashes

The immune system requires the body and mind to experience periods of rest in order to stay strong. You know it’s important to get enough sleep, but the brain requires a different kind of rest. I’m talking about the kind of rest which will result from a daily meditation practice. In most people, the left frontal area of the brain controls the immune system, and when you meditate, electrical activity increases in this region.

A study at the University of Wisconsin evaluated volunteer subjects who meditated by measuring antibodies in the blood that fight infections. After only two months of meditating, participants had significantly higher levels of infection-fighting antibodies in their blood.

“Silence is not an absence but a presence.” – Anne D. LeClaire

Decide to add meditation to your daily routine. Make an assertive decision to stick to it and be determined to keep the practice going for six months no matter what your negative self-talk says to you. From my experience, your inner voice will tell you that your brain is too busy for meditation or you don’t have time in your busy schedule, ignore those messages. Maintain your meditation practice, and in six months time, the benefits will make you want to keep going.

Start with only two minutes of meditation. Sit comfortably with your back straight and focus on your breath. Close your eyes if you want to reduce the visual interference. Do this every morning just after you wake up and gradually increase the time to five, ten, and then fifteen minutes. I find that twenty minutes a day works well for me.

Decide right now to allow your missing successes to flow into your life by starting a daily meditation practice.

Do you practice meditation? If so, what has been the most rewarding part so far?

3 Powerful Ways to Help You Unleash the Champion Mindset

Everybody is claiming to be an expert these days. While I am not against the idea of being an expert, I have grown more skeptical of the term over the years. I have worked hard to establish myself as an authority. More importantly, I have devoted my life to being world-class at everything that I do. You are not an expert simply because you can google information and duplicate systems that someone else created.

I am not attacking anyone that does this, but on the other hand, I know how much work it takes to build a great brand and become recognized around the world for your work. My disciplines and dedication have been pillars to my success. More importantly, my thinking has been one of the greatest keys to my success.

Implement a few of the strategies below and I assure you that you will find yourself living a life of success and prosperity:

1. You need to confront self-limiting beliefs and perceptions

I could just throw out a bunch of success tips and inspire you for the moment however, I believe in adding value to your life. You can read all the success and motivation material in the world but that will not produce a greater life. The sad reality is that I talk to people everyday with great potential. Great potential is no match for flawed thinking.

Many things shape our thinking including our family and our experiences. Most people try to pack principles on top of dysfunction and disempowering beliefs. The first thing you need to do is confront self-limiting beliefs and perceptions. These are ideas and philosophies that you have accepted as true and established your life upon. The danger in this is that your mind does not know what is true or false.

Therefore, the mind accepts whatever you give permission to access it. These philosophies form your psychological construct and ultimately determine the cycles of your life. Make sure that you are establishing your life on truth. Your psychological construct forms the pillars of your life. Address every thought pattern that will threaten your progress.

“Anyone can train to be a gladiator. What marks you out is having the mindset of a champion.” – Manu Bennett

2. You need to break cycles in your life once and for all

After you have confronted self-limiting beliefs and perceptions, you must next make the decision to break the cycle. One of the most powerful discoveries I made years ago is that nothing has the power to live in your mind without your permission. Often times we want to make excuses for where we are in our lives however, I learned years ago that it is your job to take responsibility for your life.

Your life is not the product of chance, your life is the product of choices. Therefore, we can establish that your thoughts have brought you to this place in your life. If your thoughts brought you to this place, then your thoughts can also bring you into a place of breakthrough.

When you decide to take responsibility for your life, you are empowered to reverse cycles and reclaim moments. Cycles are broken when we make the bold decision to stop making excuses for our lives and start engaging to see change in our lives.

3. Understand the power of stretching your thinking

I was stuck in my life for a long time. I could not figure out why I was not moving forward. It was a very frustrating time and I wanted so desperately to give up. I was not reaching my goals, my finances were drying up and I found myself trapped in cycles of frustration and defeat. Then one day I had an epiphany and it change my life. I realized that simply desiring to upgrade my life was not going to change my life.

Instead, I discovered that I was going to have to upgrade my thinking to change my life. In other words, you will never upgrade your life until you are first willing to get uncomfortable. You have to be stretched if you want to embrace the next dimension in your life. Every elevation will demand your evolution. When was the last time your mind was stretched?

How do you stretch your thinking? You have to introduce your mind to new ideas. Old patterns will never unlock new possibilities. Until you challenge your paradigm you will never create new pages in the story of your life. Ideas create new tipping points in your life. Some thoughts are no longer serving you and it’s time for you to stretch your thinking.

Unleash the champion mindset

I am so thankful that I made it through those years of adversity, frustration and failure. The things that I learned during those years were invaluable. Everyone sees my life today but most people have no idea. People read my books, see me featured in magazines and even see me on television however, not many people know about the years of struggle, the failure of my business and the dark moments that tried to break me.

The world respects my work and values my wisdom today. I would not be where I am today if I did not learn the lessons that this journey was attempting to teach me. Adversity is a great classroom that will develop an unstoppable champion within you. Everybody wants to get to the top however, trials, testings and tribulations are the things that will empower you to get to the top. Challenges are what unleash the champion inside of you.

The champion mindset does not accept defeat. The champion uses every adversity as a catalyst to victory. The storms of life are developing in you and you’re an overcomer that cannot be shaken. Pressure is simply an opportunity to unleash the power of your mind. Pressure is the portal to new possibilities and new realities.
